L'espressione project management individua l'insieme di attività svolte da una figura dedicata e specializzata detta project manager, volte all'analisi di un progetto, alla sua progettazione e ingegnerizzazione, pianificazione e realizzazione nel rispetto di obiettivi prefissati.

Compito del project manager è quello di gestire un progetto nel rispetto di vincoli prefissati e in tutte le sue fasi evolutive. Normalmente i vincoli sono quelli relativi a tempi, costi, risorse, scopi e qualità.

Le sfide del project management sono: quella di raggiungere gli obiettivi del progetto restando all'interno del perimetro costituito dai classici vincoli determinati dal contesto del committente, solitamente il costo, il tempo e lo scopo (nel senso anche della qualità); quella di ottimizzare l'allocazione delle risorse e gestire sotto un unico cappello tutte le diverse funzioni aziendali coinvolte dal e nel progetto affinché sia raggiunto l'obiettivo definito.

Tuttavia non si può trascurare che il buon risultato di una commessa trae origine dal negoziato contrattuale, in funzione di prezzi, tempi, penali, foro competente.

The expression project management identifies the set of activities carried out by a dedicated and specialized professional called project manager, aimed at the analysis of a project, its design and engineering, planning and implementation in accordance with the objectives set.

The task of the project manager is to run the project in compliance with pre-established constraints and in all its evolutionary phases. Normally the constraints are those related to delivery milestones, cost, resources, purpose and quality.

The challenges of project management are: to achieve the objectives of the project while remaining within the perimeter constituted by the classic constraints determined by the context of the client, usually the cost, time and purpose (in the sense of quality); to optimize the allocation of resources and manage under a single cap all the different business functions involved in and in the project so that the defined objective is achieved.

However, it should not be overlooked that the success of a project stems from contractual negotiation, in terms of prices, timing, penalties and jurisdiction.

La legge di Stabilità 2016 ha reintrodotto la detassazione per i premi di risultato, sospesa nel 2015, rendendola strutturale, applicabile dall’anno d’imposta 2016 e successivi, senza la necessità di ulteriori norme o disposizioni attuative.

La legge di Bilancio 2017 ha elevato alcuni valori riferiti alla detassazione dei premi di produttività.
